Saturday, August 1, 2009 October
23, 2008, Stony Brook, NY— Dates have been set for the 14th Annual
Stony Brook Film Festival, a summer destination for film lovers on Long Island.
From Thursday, July 23 to Saturday, August 1, 2009, independent film from around
the world will once again be showcased at Staller Center for the Arts at Stony
Brook University. Alan
Inkles, founder and director of the Stony Brook Film Festival, looks forward to
the summer event. “Our search for the best in independent film pays off each
year. Our audiences’ enthusiasm for the festival is legendary. Q&As spill
over into the lobby as people talk about the films they’ve seen with
filmmakers and get into discussions with others. Our filmmakers are always
impressed with the size of the audiences and the interesting questions that are
raised. The interest and support of the community is truly amazing,” said Mr.
Inkles. The
Stony Brook Film Festival screens all films on the large Staller Center screen
in the Main Stage Theatre, which seats over 1000. Films are shown in the
evenings and on weekends. Filmmakers attend screenings to represent their films
and winning filmmakers are brought back for the closing night awards. The
entry deadline for 2009 is May 1. Entry forms are available on the Stony Brook
Film Festival web site. ### |
