THE BIG DREAM

(Il Grande Sogno)

East Coast Premiere—Italy—101 minutes

In Italian with subtitles.

Directed by Michele Placido. Written by Doriana Leondeff, Angelo Pasquini and Michele Placido. With Riccardo Scamarcio, Jasmine Trinca and Luca Argentero.

The Big Dream is set in Italy in 1968, when Italian youth dreamed of changing the world, when rules were broken, when love was free and when everything seemed possible. Nicola, a policeman, will cross paths with Laura, a daughter of a good middle-class Catholic family and a brilliant student who dreams of a world without injustice, and Libero, a worker student, leader of the movement. The director Michele Placido calls it “a period fresco on the idealist movement and youth struggle of ’68.” A hard-hitting look into a time when revolution was in the air.

Produced by Pietro Valsecchi and Camilla Nesbitt. Director of Photography: Arnaldo Catinari. In competition from Films Distribution.

Accompanying Short Film:

ELIKI
