Watch the Trailer

Casting a perceptive look at the last days of the GDR (German Democratic Republic/East Germany), Beloved Berlin Wall is a lively romantic comedy set against the harsh historical facts of 1989, and a tale of a love affair that becomes an act of civil courage. The GDR is fading into oblivion, but its feared Secret Police has enough time on its hands to hound a young East German border guard and his West German girlfriend. Madcap adventures and political upheavals ensue on both sides of the Wall.

Produced by Heike Wiehle-Timm. Director of Photography: Achim Poulheim. In competition from Bavaria Film International.
